'Breast Is Best'...

‘Breast is Best’…?

The government has been asked to drop the slogan ‘Breast is Best’. Not because it isn’t best but because the well-known and popular slogan suggests it is more of a choice than necessity. After campaigners claim it suggests breast-feeding to be a choice rather than the most natural way to do feed your baby. ‘It implies something special, whereas breastfeeding is the physiological norm, and suggests that formula is the standard way to feed babies. Breastfeeding is the only case where the biological norm is expressed as the exception rather than the rule’. Research shows that breast-fed babies are less likely to become obese into childhood and adulthood, as well as preventing allergies, asthma and diabetes! One campaigner says that we need to communicate to new moms that breast-feeding is free and easy and the normal way to feed a baby.

Here one of our happy customers tell us how the Huggababy sling has made it easy and comfortable to breast feed on the move without any embarrassment or need to stop your every day life…‘I did indeed breastfeed with Edie in it whilst walking up the high street! Edie was 5 weeks old at the time and I couldn’t find a wall, bench or café so I could sit down and feed so I out her in the sling and, as I was due at the solicitor’s office as we were moving house, kept on walking!  It was totally discreet and very comfortable.  I even managed to push the buggy with the other hand!  I did this often as the need arose on quite a few occasions after that.’ The gorgeous Huggababy sling also has extra fabric, which can be pulled up for discreet breast-feeding in public.

"It's time to normalise breastfeeding and create the right conditions for mothers to breastfeed in comfort, wherever they go, whether that's in a restaurant or a shop when they're out and about," Janet Fyle Royal College of Midwives
