Rafael Nadal - Champion Of Wimbledon 2010
Rafael Nadal crowned champion of Wimbledon 2010.
Unfortunately with our hopes high Murray didn’t quite for fill our dreams of Britain making a name in the world of sport this year. When the game began on Friday afternoon the crowd was filled with hope and cheer, we were once again feeling patriotic after our loss in the World cup.
With Murray serving the first set 1-0, the anticipation was electrifying. Murray led the way through the first set and the dream of Murray taking the Wimbledon title was getting closer…then the game took a turn, with Nadal finishing the first set Nadal 6-Murray 4…
And this was the disappointing feeling that filled Wimbledon for the rest of the match. Murray was being tested to his highest and we all were realising what a big game this was for him to be playing number one Nadal. We began to feel naïve in thinking that we would make it through with such confidence playing such a renowned player as Nadal. It was a close game through each set and Murray was really fighting for his position. We were all rooting for him but quickly realised in the final set that Nadal had once again raised his game and Murray was struggling to keep up!
Finally the game ended with Mr Rafael Nadal himself winning and taking himself into the finals! We can’t say we weren’t disappointed but we couldn’t fault Nadal’s performance either.
On Sunday Nadal played Berdych in the final, both fighting to win Wimbledon 2010. Although it was a close game and both men were playing well it seemed in the seventh game Nadal pounced for his championship. It seemed an easy win for the Spanish once he bounced into form, saying "It's more than a dream for me, after a difficult year…missing the tournament last year, this year I came back and to have this trophy in my hands is more than a dream." Thomas Berdych commented himself saying, ‘It's been a great two weeks for me, but he was really strong, he's showing in the last few months he's really the champion!’
