Wimbledon 2010...Could Andy Murray Be Britains Number One?

Wimbledon 2010…Could Andy Murray be Britain’s number one?

With the loss of interest in the football many of us have taken to watching the tennis to keep us entertained! And that it has! With the 10 hour game between the U.S’s John Isner and France’s Nicholas Mahut last week and the close game between Tsonga and Murray we are all just on the edge of our seats for the semi final today!

Fighting his way into the semi-final Andy Murray battled Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in four sets, where he will now face Rafael Nadal.  In the first set both Murray and Tsonga were even which consequently led to a tiebreak, and Tsonga finally winning with 7 points to 5. The second set also led to a tiebreak, but this time Murray won in seven games to six. It was a close game to start and in response Murray said ‘Just had to hang in and yeah managed to win that second-set tiebreak. I felt a lot better after that’. After dropping his first set at the tournament it was clear Murray was in no mood to mess around and in the third set he was firmly in the game serving up 6-2. After what can only have been described as a close match, in the fourth set Murray made sure to secure his position in the semi final. And of course with the semi-final fast approaching we’re rooting for Murray all the way.

Many people are finding it hard to pick a winner out of Nadal and Murray. On paper obviously Nadal should be the winner (as he is the worlds number one!) but out on the court it’s a different story. It seems that both are equally on form to take the position and if Murray does make it through he will be the first British man to reach the final since Bunny Austin in 1938. It seems he is not deterred by this pressure, as he was quoted ‘It will be a great match, it's always fun. I think we've played four times in Grand Slams and won two each. I'm looking forward to it ‘ when talking about the approaching match. Although it is going to be a close match, for once Brits everywhere are hopeful that we could actually have a British winner at Wimbledon. It seems every one believes in Murray, with many saying if he makes it through today’s match there is a very good chance he will take the winning position at Wimbledon 2010!

So let’s wish him luck for the match he has ahead of him this afternoon!..Here at Huggababy we’re all rooting for our British winner! xx
